Ketamine is NOT a replacement for mental health medication
Ketamine is an adjunctive medication therapy and we often have to remind patients that it is in their best interest to continue taking their mental health medication.
Despite the advancements in conventional treatments, a significant number of patients continue to struggle with mental health disorders and chronic pain conditions that do not respond well or respond incompletely to standard therapies.
For those facing treatment-resistant conditions—including depression, anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain, and addiction - ketamine therapy offers a promising adjunctive therapy. Originally used as an anesthetic, ketamine is now recognized for its quick-acting relief of complex symptoms across various diagnoses, even when administered at low doses. This adjunctive treatment has been shown to provide rapid and substantial improvements, enabling patients to better engage with and respond to other therapeutic interventions and improve their tolerance for traditional medications.
Our clinic integrates ketamine infusion therapy into a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to each patient’s unique needs. In our carefully monitored medical setting, ketamine infusions are delivered following stringent safety protocols, ensuring both the safety and effectiveness of the treatment.
Ketamine infusion therapy is an adjunctive treatment in the management of patient illnesses and may help with the following conditions:
Ketamine Infusion Therapy at Modern Mindwork
- Ketamine therapy should be considered with particular reference to the severity of the patient’s symptoms and the suboptimal response to multiple and traditional treatments.
- Modern Mindwork is an anesthesia-led practice. This allows for broader acceptable comorbid diagnoses and increased safety for the clients. We keep a full complement of Anesthesia/ACLS equipment and medications and our providers are experienced professionals.
- We fully review each patient’s medical history and assess the patient for contraindications.
- We embrace working cooperatively with primary care providers and referring specialists to deliver a care plan that is tailored to each client’s needs. Where clients have a referring therapist, psychiatrist and/or PCP, we do not seek to replace these services or therapies. Rather, we want to work with you and our mutual client on a specialist and consultative basis.
- We request all patients to continue to work with their healthcare providers before, during and after the infusion induction timeline. An initial set of 6 to 8 infusions are combined with integration coaching.
- This combination of ketamine and coaching allows patients to see better results and more actively participate in and integrate other therapies including traditional talk therapy, CBT, IFS, DBT, EFT, EMDR and a range of Somatic therapies.
- We are an evidence-based practice and we evaluate new research regularly. Some diagnoses have less robust data in the literature. In these cases, infusion therapy is offered with initial positive data and knowledge of in-progress research. Information is shared professionally within the Ketamine Practitioner community. Research continues to evolve and we conduct literature reviews to stay informed and up to date.
- We are always open for Provider to Provider communication, either by phone, video, email or inperson visit to the clinic.
- Our goal is to allow people to keep their theraputic relationships with the providers that know them best, while allowing them the opportunity to move forward in their healing.
